Sunday, December 13th 2009, 1:40 AM Interesting reading about Ray Kurzweils view of the future 10 years ahead.Ten years is not a very long time. As Mr Kurzweil points out, we will still have buses, subways and cars pretty much as before. The interesting thing is HOW they are operating. We know that one day robots (or computers actually) will be smarter than us – The point of singularity. In my previous post, “5 Technology disasters”, I talked about disasters as a result from excessive faith in technology. With these examples in mind, what can go wrong with robotics in the future? Well, everything of course. Can it be that they take over control and rule us humans? Probably not but there is a risk… Singularity is the point when computers are smarter than humans and that will happen! What will this mean in practical life? |
